What can you tell us about your designers?

Kendra and Kerra are an identical twin duo, both graduating from MSU with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design. Based in the Greater Grand Rapids area, we service all surrounding areas. With 8+ years of both commercial and residential design, we love a good challenge and enjoy working for clients who have design needs of many different levels. We live by our company saying that there is always a solution!

How would you describe your design style?

We are both personally drawn to classic white farmhouses with neutrals and a punch of bold, pattern or color when it’s needed. We like clean and simple designs with lots of textures that add depth. While we adore our style and do many modern farmhouse designs, we believe that as an interior designer we get challenged to design for our clients’ needs and style. We often have a request to fit in a specific feature or piece into the design that the client can’t envision how to incorporate it in the space. We believe that these are the special elements that make each project unique and custom for each client.

What design services do you offer?

Each project is so different and that is the beauty of being the designers on these fun projects – none are the same. Therefore, we offer many different packages to fit our clients needs. Starting with our virtual mood boards, we complete your space by pulling together YOUR look that includes accessorizing and space planning. These are great for a quick turn around so our clients can complete the space all within their budget and feel confident it will look polished.

Next, we have a package that offers your spaces viewed in our 3D visuals from our 3D software. Starting with a one room concept design package for spaces like living room, dining room, bedrooms, fireplaces home offices, mudroom and built-ins. This package is great to show you the existing designs we have personalized for you. It is ideal for those who are looking to change something construction wise on any scale. That might be a change in walls, openings and more.

Like the one room concept design package we also have a package for secondary concept designs (bathrooms and laundry rooms), lower level concept design (basements that might be looking to be finished or incorporate bedrooms, baths, hang out spaces, storage and more) and our main room concept design package (kitchen and lower level kitchenettes). Moving outside we also do exterior concept designs, which are great for those wanting to make exterior changes or upgrades. All of these concept design packages are shown using our 3D program to help everyone feel confident with the design expectations and finishes with detailed design discussion throughout the process . This gives our clients the HGTV experience as we drive you through your space in a 2D and 3D fashion, visually communicating your space in a way you have never experienced.

What can you tell us about working with Modern Hardware on the projects listed above?

These two sets of clients each had a home remodel project. This first one is an older (and amazing) home in East Grand Rapids. The homeowner wanted to open up the space from the kitchen to the dining room, but needed help visualizing it as well as understanding what could be removed, where beams would be needed and pulling all the finishes together. From there, Kerra worked with the homeowners from start to finish to pull together the perfect kitchen that fit their needs and checked off all of their wish list boxes. Taking the client on a guided shopping trip to Modern Hardware was fun for Kerra and the client to spend time together to make sure they were ordering the right hardware with the right size and count. In the end Kerra put their selection into their drawings, which sealed the deal with the client seeing the visuals of their space finished to the T. Where do you find your inspiration?

We love to bring inspiration to our clients, but most of the time we are working around or with something the client had that was personal to them. Clients often have Pinterest and Houzz boards that they share and we listen in order to pull together and provide the right application of their inspiration into their designs.

 

The second home was a full home renovation that Times Two Design Co. designer Kendra partnered up with their chosen builders, Nugent Builders out of Rockford. The clients took an old run down and dated home down to the studs. Then reconfigured the existing space and added a good amount of square footage to accommodate their family of 7 and ADA needs. Kendra worked with the clients to customize many built-ins, finishes selections, reconfigurations, tile and cabinet layouts, lighting and more! The guided shopping trip with Kendra included countertops, flooring, tile and ended the day with hardware selections at Modern Hardware. The team there is always so helpful and we love to pair up with them, making our services to our clients fast and efficient. We pulled together the whole home’s hardware in a few hours, leaving the client confident in their selections. The front door handle was one thing we won’t forget as the client wanted what was described as an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ handle, and by golly this client got exactly what she wished for from Modern Hardware. Modernizing this remodel into a farmhouse that has a bunch of fun flares was a joy to be a part of!
