Our Team

Modern Hardware is family owned and operated by Rick and Elaine Dreyer along with Robert and Vicki Vander Lugt. When you visit the store, our knowledgeable consultants will assist you in selecting everything you need for your next project, from a new home build to a small repair and everything in between. Our team will work closely with your contractor or designer, coordinating the entire hardware process, including delivery and installation options. When you shop with the Modern Hardware team, you’ll always receive service backed by our pledge to treat customers with honesty and integrity.

100 Years of History

Modern Hardware was established in 1924 under the name Oakdale Fuel & Materials. We have remained at our Kalamazoo Avenue location since our inception and have been family-run since the early 1970’s. Our offerings have evolved with the changing times, and while we now sell decorative hardware rather than coal, we carry with pride both our rich history and our contemporary service.
