Meet Our Decorative Hardware Consultants: Kaitlyn Puckett

This month, get to know one of our decorative hardware consultants who has been helping customers’ houses become homes at Modern Hardware.

Meet Kaitlyn Puckett:

What inspired you to become a decorative hardware consultant?

I’ve always been attracted to the art of developing creative and fun solutions in various spaces, especially residential homes. While pursuing my interest in interior design, I knew working as a decorative hardware consultant would be a great opportunity to help others and expand my knowledge within the field of design.

What are some of the latest trends in decorative hardware that you’ve noticed?

Recently I’ve been seeing a lot of muted finishes (matte black, satin brass, satin nickel, etc.) being paired with monochromatic colors. Typically I’ll see this pattern focused towards a single room or throughout a whole household.

How do you approach working with clients to select the perfect hardware for their project?

I like to obtain an understanding of the client’s style and direct them towards collections that suit their preference. From then on, I will help narrow down their selection while adding in suggestions until they’ve decided on the perfect hardware.

What do you enjoy most about working as a decorative hardware consultant?

I enjoy having one-on-one pick out selections with clients because it gives me the opportunity to connect with each person I’m working with and allows the process to be more personalized.

What’s your favorite type of decorative hardware to work with and why?

Door hardware has always been fun for me because the options are limitless. Whether it’s interior or exterior, finding the right hardware with a client can be an adventure.

What’s the most unique piece of decorative hardware you’ve ever seen or worked with?

In our showroom, we carry Windborne Studios custom hardware which come in a variety of materials; glass, metal, and even a combination of both. Each piece is different from one another, giving them a raw and natural look.

When you’re not working with decorative hardware, what are some of your hobbies or interests?

I love to cook, workout, go on walks, and create paintings.

If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be and why?

I would say that I’m innovative. I choose this word because I often find myself coming up with practical methods and solutions when I need them the most.
