Modern How-To Guide: Installing A Kwikset Door Knob

If you’ve purchased a Kwikset door knob and need help installing it, you’ve come to the right place. Tools You’ll Need

  1. New Kwikset door knob
  2. Milwaukee door lock install kit
  3. Standard drill
  4. Screwdriver

How-To Guide

Step 1: Clamp the Milwaukee Door Lock Install Kit into Place

This door lock kit uses an auto-centering drill guide to save you time and stress when setting up your hole for the latch and deadbolt. The non-slip clamp keeps the kit from moving around, and allows an easy and exact process for lining up the hole and drilling.

Step 2: Drill Out the Door Knob and Latch Holes

Once everything is lined up correctly, start drilling the holes. The Milwaukee Door Lock Install Kit comes with everything you need to drill the holes, you just need a drill. Any standard drill will do the trick.

Step 3: Install the Latch

Different Kwikset Door Knobs require different install directions. The Kwikset Tylo Entry Knob install directions are here.

Step 4: Install the Knobs

To install the knobs you will first press the latch bolt to install the exterior knob. Then you will align round edges and ensure the screws are caught correctly. Once the screws are caught, you will push up on the knob while tightening the screws to keep the latch horizontal and centered.

Step 5: Install the Strike on the Door Frame

This step is self explanatory, but the key is to make sure the door closes and latches correctly. To test this, close the door. If it does not latch correctly you will need to make adjustments as needed.
